Prayer Over Savannah (May 20-28)

Closing the Gates of Savannah to the Enemy

This is a call for The Ekklesia of Savannah, SE Georgia, and the rest of the state & territory to take our place on the wall as watchmen and in the gates of the city as gatekeepers to shut the gates of Savannah to the spirits of hatred, bigotry, and wickedness that are planning a siege on the city next week (May 22-27).  

Starting next week, Westboro Baptist Church out of Topeka, Kansas, has plans to come to Savannah to picket and protest at several local churches, synagogues, and schools. (List included below.)   Westboro is known for their protests and pickets against homosexuals, protests at funerals (including funerals for those in the military), and for desecrating the American Flag.  They are considered a "hate group" and are monitored by the Anti-Defamation League. 

We have authority and responsibility, in the Name of Jesus, to watch over the gates (entrances) into our cities and over the activities within our borders.  Evil goes unchecked when we sit by and do not take our place of intercession and spiritual authority to protect the places where the Lord has granted us spheres of influence and authority.  

PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM NOT RECRUITING COUNTER PROTESTS.... THE CALL IS FOR US TO GOVERN OVER THE TERRITORY THROUGH FERVENT INFORMED INTERCESSION AND TO SATURATE THE TERRITORY WITH WORSHIP THAT DELIGHTS THE HEART OF THE LORD...AND LEAVES NO ROOM FOR THE ENEMY TO ENTER AND OPERATE. 

As a testimony and reminder:  The Lord allowed and enabled the Church to accomplish this is an amazing way during the 2004 G8 Summit.  Protestors were promising and threatening to come into Savannah and the rest of the state to wreak havoc, but the people of the Lord rallied together and shut the gates of the city and the territory...and the protestors essentially didn't show up and those who did were inconsequential.  There were projections of 10's of thousands coming and it ended up being just a few hundred...in fact there were more Christ-followers out serving cups of cool water and peanuts than there were protestors!....the power of Christ's love shut the threats of those who were set on protests and destruction.

  • Isaiah 22:22,  Then I will set the key of the house of David on his shoulder,When he opens no one will shut,When he shuts no one will open.
  • Revelation 3:6-8  And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: He who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens
  • Matthew 16:19  "I will give you (C)the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."  
  • Psalm 34:4-5  "For the word of the LORD is upright,  And all His work is done in faithfulness. He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the lovingkindness of the LORD."
  • Psalm 89:14 "Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Lovingkindness and truth go before You." 
  • Psalm 106:3 How blessed are those who keep justice,Who practice righteousness at all times!
  • Isaiah 9:7 "There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace,On the throne of David and over his kingdom,To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this."
  • I John 4:11-13"Beloved, if God so loved us, (B)we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His (D)love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit"
  • John 16:7-9 "But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. "And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me"

Remember in all our intercession that the love of Christ conquers and we are called to hate what God hates, while at the same time operating in love toward all those who are bound in the chains of sin.
